Q4 What inspired you to become a freelancer?
I am neurodivergent so freelancing allows me to have flexibility over the scope of work and hours I work which is essential to how my brain operates
Q5 What do you think the benefits of being a freelancer are?
The ability to be selective over the types of clients you work with and being able to set your own hours.
Q6 What are the biggest challenges you think freelancers face at the moment?
There is an increased demand for work due to the employment crisis however lots of employers are unwilling to pay increased rates for increased quality of work which leads to some uncomfortable negotiations of expectations
Q7 What do you think is the best resource you have found to use as a freelancer?
The ATO website has dozens of documented resources about the basics of establishing yourself as a sole trader and basic record keeping which has been a life saver as someone who didn’t do a business degree
Q8 What one piece of advice would you give to other/aspiring freelancers?
It is definitely a scary leap but I would recommend taking the risk, the freedom it affords you is second to none.
Q9 What is your favourite project you have ever worked on?
I’m currently working on a photoshoot for a baby product that means I get to spend hours playing with babies and taking photos… a dream come true!
